Just a few basic rules about purchasing fainting goats from us: #1. No single goat sales unless you already own goats. Goats are herd animals that MUST have another goat to live with. This is non-negotiable. I also prefer to sell to only farms with other fainting goats. If your other goats are a more aggressive breed, such as pygmy goats, your new fainter or fainters will most likely be picked on daily (and fainted) and rammed repeatedly while they are down as regular goats have a tendency to do this to myotonics. NOT a fun way to spend your life! #2. Around 90% of our goats are sold with their horns on. This is the way that I prefer my own goats so if they are not sold quickly, before the time limit for disbudding is up, they will sell with horns. If you prefer to have your goat disbudded we will absolutely do this for you. The cost is $25 per goat and we can not guarantee no horn scurs. When you are burning off horns, there is always a chance of horn scurs. We will do it ONLY ONCE. If horn scurs grow, that is unfortunate, but I will not put a goat thru this procedure twice. If you want your goat or goats disbudded, they also need to be PAID IN FULL before the deed is done. On buck kids this means that payment needs to be received within about 4-7 days of birth at the latest normally. On doe kids you have about 2 weeks total. We do have some polled goats (naturally hornless) so we do get some kids born without horns.
#3. We do not take money down until AFTER the goats arrive. Shortly after birth, photos are sent to people on our wait list. Once you pick out your goat kids, a 50% non-refundable deposit needs to be paid within 7 days of the decision to purchase. If the deposit is not received, and no other agreement was made with me otherwise, the goats will be offered to the next person on the list if there is one, or they will be put back on the website. The deposit will be refunded ONLY if something happens to the goats in question , not if the buyer "changes their mind". The deposit can be paid by check, cash, money order or pay-pal. If there is a balance due when the goats are picked up this needs to be paid in CASH ONLY the day the animals leave our farm.
#4. If you are buying neutered males, full payment must be received BEFORE THE DEED IS DONE also. Just like disbudding, this procedure can not be un-done! We usually neuter around the 8-9 week mark, shortly before the kids leave for their new homes. Most kids leave between 8-10 weeks. Arrangements for pick up of the goats will be expected before the goats are 12 weeks old.
#5. All buck and doe kids (but not wethers) will be registered with the Myotonic Goat Registry before they are picked up . New owners are encouraged to choose names for their goats themselves. The more quickly this is done, the more quickly I can send their papers in. All goats will be up to date on their shots and have their hooves trimmed and any necessary maintenance done (lice dusting etc.) before they are picked up.
